My dog routinely gets ‘hot spots’ which are expensive to treat. What topicals or techniques can aid healing?

His fur is thick and he loves water. We shave the dog in the summer to allow the skin to dry after frequent swims. We also shave the dog when a hot sopt is found, but folds in his skin do not allow skin to dry well. Rubbing alcohol dries the spots out, but is painful for the dog (no doubt).
