Searing pain in left side of left leg when standing.

healing techniques
prestonhurst@sbcglobal.net asked:

I went to the doctor for some serious pain I’ve had down the left side of my left leg that started a week prior to the visit. I thought it was a “Charlie Horse” or something else which is why I put off going to my doctor.

Anyway, she gave me muscle relaxers, an anti-inflammatory, and pain meds, but none of which really seem to do any good. And the x-rays came out clean.

She said I just sprained it really bad and I’ve been off of the leg for four days now and it hasn’t gotten much better. I have some relief, but only if I walk bending over. I can’t exactly work like this, so is there something I can do to facilitate faster healing?

I’ve tried heating pads, warm baths with Epsom salt, stretching techniques/exercises, etc. Nothing’s working. Or do I just need to stay off it for a few more days?

Singing: How do you reduce vocal swelling/edema with a cold virus?

healing techniques
John asked:

I am coming down with a cold two days before I have to sing at a wedding. I am a trained opera singer, so pls understand that I am not ‘losing voice’ due to any bad techniques. But I need help on how to reduce edema to the vocal folds without risking vocal hemmorhage when I sing.

I have mild laryngitis — I can technically sing, but my head resonance has gone to crap and my control is lessened due to swelling of the cords. Range is down by a whole step, as I have to start covering on F#4 instead of G#4, and I can’t seem to hold the breath very well, presumably because my cords are swollen and can’t close all the way.

This is due to a virus:
My mom came down with something very similar on Christmas (of course), but I did not know about it until after I had been around her for a while. She lost her speaking voice a couple of days later, and is still recovering. I have no allergies or respiratory disorders.

Anyone have ideas on how I can heal by Saturday? Or at least sing?

Non Medication Aides for Anxiety?

healing techniques
asked:

I’m trying to take the non-medication road to healing my panic and anxiety (seeing as how all the meds they put me on for that just THROW me into panic attacks). I was wondering what other options I have to help me control my panic/anxiety. I already know about meditation and deep breathing techniques, but is there anything else? My anxiety has really been making me feel quite out of control lately so I need some answers quickly. Thanks everyone.

My 2 year old daughter keeps picking at a cut on her nose?

healing techniques
RoyalGala asked:

How can I get her to stop? It has become a habit for her to pick the healing cut on her nose. She is only two years old, so I am wondering what techniques I could use to protect the cut so it will heal. I have tried a bandaid, but she just picks the bandaid off. Any ideas?

Should I sue because my intestines fell out after hysterectomy?

healing techniques
lildee asked:

I had a hysterectomy in the spring, no complications. At my six week checkup, my GYN said that I was healed and could resume normal activities including sex. A week later, after my husband and I had sex, my intestines came out and I had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. I was hospitalized for 5 days and now have chronic pelvic pain. Dr’s commented that this is an extremely rare event but nobody will say my hysterectomy surgeon made a mistake, even though the intestine that came out looked perfect, there was no blood when it happened and there was no scars on the intestine indicating that they had been sutured in. I saw one of the top attys in our city and they said there is no proof of dr error. I have researched this and the #1 reason for this happening is poor surgical technique but there are others(http://www.greenjournal.org/cgi/content/full/103/3/572)I cant work & still recovering…help

questions about my chronic tendinitis and piano?

healing techniques
Christopher R asked:

I’ve had tendinitis on the biceps side of my forearms (at the spot where the tendons that go to your fingers start) for 9 months now. It’s been mild but constant, and irritating enough to still prevent me from practicing the piano more than 15 minutes a day (I’m a music major and piano is my instrument, so I basically had to quit my major), or from using the computer more than 30 minutes a day.

I saw a physical therapist specializing in musicians’ injuries recently who believes the cause was weight lifting. (My teachers evaluated my technique and determined that was not the cause.) She told me to stop weight lifting completely, which I did a month ago. It still hasn’t cleared up yet. I’m getting small and wimpy again and I desperately want to start lifting as soon as possible. How is typing for a few minutes a day enough to keep something that was primarily caused by weight lifting from healing at all? How soon can I get back to lifting, and how gradually do I have to do it?

Why is more forearm sore?

healing techniques
Unknown asked:

I’ve been working out for 3 months now, and just recentley I noticed my forearm (Ulna) by the wrist is very sore if I lift weights. I don’t know why, I lift with proper positioning. I know everything I do in technique is right. But this has happened to me before and it took a long time to heal. Why does this happen?

anybody familiar with the vacuum cupping therapy?

healing techniques
j1_projectz asked:

This is the cupping therapy method:

Cupping therapy began with burning one of the following in the cup: alcohol, alcohol-soaked cotton wool, herbs, paper or a taper. Either prior to, or after the burning had been completed, cupping therapy practitioners applied the cup reverse-side down to smooth body surfaces where the cup is left in place from five to ten minutes.

My family, we’re asian, and most asians use this technique to heal their sicknesses sometimes. As a child, I never understood how it works, they just said “it just does”. Now that I’ve looked it up, it says that it is used to release toxins and promote energy flow to heal the body.

but how?? it’s hard for me to understand how that works.. does it really suck the bad air out of the body and work with vessels? if somebody can help me out with this, i’d be very appreciative! thanks!

Question about a career in Massage Therapy?

healing techniques
firegirl365 asked:

Hi everyone. I am currently just over halfway through Paramedic school ( I love emergency medicine and will be a good Medic but the shifts are long so you only have to work a couple of days a week!). Before Medic school, I had been thinking about a job in Massage Therapy. It is something I’m still very much interested in as I am a big believer in natural healing/relaxation. I’ve heard you can make really good money doing it. I was wondering if I could get some insight from you guys as to if it would be worth persuing, how much money can be made, what are the best techniques, and just general opinions on massage. Any Massage Therapists out there your advice would be great! (PS I live in Pennsylvania in the ‘burgh area so I don’t know what all education or anything I’ll need.) Thanks soooo much!
